I built this song from a chord progression I came up with during an improvisation (it’s the same
six chords or so over and over) and constructed the form on that. I was teaching violin over
zoom at the time, and thought it would be appropriate to have live violin take the melody for this
one. The background whispers, which are usually reversed except in the final chorus, are from
the one-sentence horror story: “I never go to sleep, but I keep waking up.”
