What memories made you who you are?
“Core Memory” is the multimedia project of brothers McKinley and Harrison Foster. Through the synthesis of electronic music and live, acoustic instruments, McKinley creates introspective music characterized as “cinematic lofi,” while Harrison creates audio-responsive visuals for live performance. They released their first full-length album, “Align,” in 2021 as a concept album about what keeps us grounded. Utilizing spoken word and a variety of guitar, synth and lofi elements, the album paints a picture about finding balance and going from drowning to floating. In 2022, McKinley completed the score for the short film, “The Mount,” for the dance collective, BODYSONNET. Making use of analogue synths and guitars, McKinley weaves different electronic and classical styles into an ambient work that complements the imagery onscreen. The track, “Meditation” has been featured on a number of yoga and zen playlists. "Array" is their latest release, often featuring strings and acoustic instruments to find a human connection between the electronic elements on the EP. With artwork taken from a drawing of the brothers’ childhood home, "Array" explores themes of nostalgia, growing up, and the experiences that shape an individual.
